About Lodge Svea No. 348

Svea Lodge # 348 is a fellowship that shares a common interest in Nordic culture and heritage. Members of Svea Lodge celebrate many Nordic customs and occasions, often with music, cuisine, and costume. Members of Svea Lodge typically come together in the evening on the third Friday of every month for a social program and meeting. Our meetings are dress casual, are performed in English, are conducted with minimal ritual and formality, and are for all ages.

Svea Lodge does honor to many events and traditions from both the old and new calendars. We celebrate Valborgsmassoafton, Midsummer in Sveadal, Fourth of July, Lucia, and many other occasions throughout the year. In August 2014 Svea Lodge will celebrate its 98th Anniversary.

Membership in Vasa is open to all men and women 14 years or older interested in Nordic culture. Please visit Vasa Order of America for more information about membership and to find a lodge in your area.

Svea Lodge holds many of its meetings at the Odd Fellow's Hall, 1035 Emory Street, San Jose, California. (Click here for a yahoo map) This facility has a large formal hall with a raised stage which we occasionally use for our meetings, plus a more casual dining room and kitchen. On those evenings when we meet at this hall, the business meetings begin promptly at 7:00PM, followed by the social event.

For additional information about Svea Lodge, please contact Lodge Secretary Joan Kjemtrup by E-mail at [email protected].
